Rail-Hailing Kiosks Introduced at Major Prayagraj Division Stations

The North Central Railway’s Prayagraj Division has introduced ride-hailing kiosk facilities at major railway stations to improve passenger convenience and strengthen last-mile connectivity. The facility has been awarded to Roppen Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd. (Rapido) under a three-year contract.
The service has been launched at Prayagraj Junction from September 5, 2026, with additional kiosks operational at key stations in the division. Passengers will be able to book rides directly through the kiosks and conveniently wait at designated locations for rides booked in advance.
Kiosks at Three Railway Stations
Under the initiative, ride-hailing kiosks have been provided at:
| Railway Station | Station Code | Kiosks | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prayagraj Junction | PRYJ | 1 | Civil Lines side |
| Kanpur Central | CNB | 2 | Ghantaghar side |
| Govindpuri | GOY | 1 | Station premises |
The kiosks are intended to make the process of getting from the railway station to the final destination more organised, convenient and secure.
Passengers arriving at these stations will have access to a dedicated facility for booking rides, while those who have already booked their rides can wait at designated points rather than searching for vehicles outside crowded station areas.
Focus on Last-Mile Connectivity
Last-mile connectivity remains an important part of the overall passenger travel experience. Railway journeys often end at a station, requiring passengers to arrange another mode of transport to reach their homes, offices, hotels or other destinations.
The new ride-hailing kiosks are aimed at addressing this requirement by providing a structured interface between railway passengers and app-based mobility services.
The initiative is expected to particularly benefit passengers who may find it difficult to locate their booked vehicles in busy station surroundings. Designated waiting and pickup arrangements can also help reduce confusion and improve traffic management around station entrances.
Railway to Earn Around ₹6.50 Lakh Annually
Under the three-year agreement with Rapido, the railway is expected to generate approximately ₹6.50 lakh in annual revenue from the arrangement.
The initiative combines passenger convenience with an additional non-fare revenue opportunity for the railway division.
The facility has been introduced under the guidance of North Central Railway General Manager Naresh Pal Singh and the direction of Prayagraj Divisional Railway Manager Rajneesh Agrawal. The initiative was successfully implemented under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Harimohan.
More Stations to Get the Facility
The Prayagraj Division plans to expand the ride-hailing kiosk facility to several other major railway stations in the near future.
The proposed stations include Aligarh, Tundla, Fatehpur, Subedarganj, Prayagraj Chheoki and Mirzapur.
With the planned expansion, more passengers across the division will be able to access organised ride-hailing services directly from railway stations.
Move Towards Modern Passenger Services
The introduction of ride-hailing kiosks is part of the broader effort by North Central Railway to improve passenger amenities and provide more modern transportation options at railway stations.
By integrating ride-hailing services with railway station facilities, the Prayagraj Division aims to make the transition between rail travel and road transport smoother.
The initiative is expected to provide passengers with a more convenient and organised way to arrange transportation after completing their railway journey. With further expansion planned across major stations, the facility could strengthen last-mile connectivity and contribute to an improved overall passenger experience across the division.
