Indian Railways Regularises Nagpur–Madgaon Bi-Weekly Special as Permanent Express Train
Train No. 11203/11204 to run regularly from May 16 and 17, 2026, improving rail connectivity between Nagpur, Konkan region, and Goa with 24-coach service and multiple key halts.

In a major relief for rail passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Goa, Indian Railways has decided to regularise the popular Nagpur–Madgaon bi-weekly special train service. Train No. 01139/01140 Nagpur Junction–Madgaon Junction–Nagpur Junction Bi-Weekly Special will now operate as regular Train No. 11203/11204 Nagpur Junction–Madgaon Junction–Nagpur Junction Bi-Weekly Express.
The regular train service from Nagpur Junction railway station will commence from May 16, 2026, while the service from Madgaon Junction railway station will begin from May 17, 2026. The move is expected to benefit thousands of passengers travelling between Vidarbha, Konkan region, and Goa for tourism, business, and personal travel.
According to railway officials, Train No. 11203 Nagpur–Madgaon Bi-Weekly Express will depart from Nagpur Junction at 3:05 PM every Wednesday and Saturday from May 16 onward. The train will reach Madgaon Junction at 5:45 PM the following day after covering key stations across Maharashtra and Goa.
Similarly, Train No. 11204 Madgaon–Nagpur Bi-Weekly Express will depart from Madgaon Junction at 8:00 PM every Thursday and Sunday starting May 17, 2026. The return service will arrive at Nagpur Junction at 9:25 PM the next day.
The regularisation of the train is being seen as a significant step by Indian Railways, especially considering the growing passenger demand on the Nagpur–Goa sector. The route provides direct connectivity between eastern Maharashtra and the Konkan belt, reducing travel difficulties for passengers who otherwise depend on connecting trains or road transport.
During its journey, the bi-weekly express will halt at several important stations including Wardha Junction, Pulgaon Junction, Dhamangaon, Badnera Junction, Akola Junction, Shegaon, Malkapur, Bhusaval Junction, Nashik Road, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Kankavli, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, and Karmali. These stoppages are expected to improve regional connectivity and provide convenient travel options to passengers from multiple districts across Maharashtra and Goa.
Railway officials stated that the train’s conversion from special to regular service reflects the sustained patronage received from passengers over the past several months. The Nagpur–Madgaon route has emerged as an important corridor connecting central India with Goa’s tourism and coastal regions.
The train will run with a total composition of 24 coaches, including one AC 2-tier coach, five AC 3-tier coaches, eleven sleeper class coaches, five general second-class coaches, and two SLR/D coaches. The mix of air-conditioned, sleeper, and unreserved coaches is expected to cater to passengers across different travel categories and income groups.
The introduction of the regular bi-weekly express is likely to further boost tourism to Goa, especially during weekends and holiday seasons, while also supporting smoother connectivity for students, migrant workers, traders, and families travelling between Maharashtra and Goa. Railway authorities have advised passengers to check updated timings and reservation details before planning their journey.
