Rapid Progress and Future Benefits: Dausa-Gangapur City Rail Line Project Update 2023-24

The construction work of the tunnel on the Deedwana-Lalsot section (8.51 km) under the Dausa-Gangapur City New Rail Line Project in Rajasthan is proceeding at a swift pace.

The vision for this railway project was initially conceived by the late Rajesh Pilot, and its approval was granted in 1996-97. However, significant progress in its execution was observed after the formation of the Modi government in 2014. The Modi government critically reviewed all such railway projects that had remained limited to announcements and declarations. Following this review, certain projects were prioritized, and a firm commitment was made to complete them, ensuring maximum benefit to the general public. In this sequence, the Dausa-Gangapur City Rail Line Project received essential funding from Indian Railways, indicating a dedicated effort to complete the project.

The Dausa-Gangapur City Rail Line, covering a length of 92.67 kilometers, is in its final phase of completion, promising a boon to the residents of the surrounding areas. The estimated cost of this 92.76-kilometer railway line project is Rs. 950 crores, with an additional allocation of Rs. 56 crores approved for the fiscal year 2023-24. Officials state that the project is anticipated to be concluded by March 2024, just ahead of the parliamentary elections.

Most tasks along this route have been successfully accomplished, with some work remaining in the final phase. The most noteworthy pending task is the completion of work in the state’s longest railway tunnel, measuring 2145 meters. The ongoing work includes various activities related to the track in this 2145-meter-long railway tunnel, marking it as the longest in the state. Project officials are actively monitoring progress, and post-completion, the safety of the newly constructed track will be inspected by the Chief Security Commissioner of Railways before train operations commence.

The 11 stations from Dausa to Gangapur, including Dausa, Baniyan, Nangalrajjawatan, Salempur, Lalsot, Deedwana, Binauri, Mandawari, Pipalai, Bamanwas, and Khuntla Udeikalan, will provide enhanced rail connectivity for the residents. With the initiation of rail services on this route, Dausa residents will benefit from direct railway access to Gangapur. Additionally, people in the vicinity of the upcoming stations will have convenient rail access, providing an alternative route for destinations such as Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
