Railway Board Allots Zones to 62 IRMS (Traffic) 2023 Batch Probationers

The Ministry of Railways has allotted railway zones to 62 probationers of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) – Traffic, 2023 examination batch, marking an important step in their induction into the Indian Railways. The Railway Board issued the order on July 7, 2026, assigning officers to various zonal railways in accordance with the existing Zonal Allocation Policy and the provisions contained in the Board’s earlier guidelines.
The notification, issued under Railway Board letter No. 2026/E(GR)I/2/1, has been addressed to the Director General of the Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management (IRITM), Lucknow, where the probationers are undergoing training. The allotments have been made for candidates recruited through the Civil Services Examination (CSE)-2023 under the IRMS (Traffic) cadre.
The newly allotted officers will now proceed with their training and subsequent field exposure in their respective railway zones. The zonal allocation is a crucial stage in the career of every railway officer, as it determines the zone in which they will begin their professional journey and gain operational experience in traffic management, train operations, freight movement, passenger services, and network planning.
Among the major beneficiaries, Northern Railway (NR) received one of the highest allocations. Officers allotted to Northern Railway include Prince Arshdeep Singh Wander, Alifa Khan, Jai Vats, Roopak Sharma, Jayant Garg, Debasmita Bal, Rupam Singh, Prabhakar Verma, and Kshitiz Patel.
Western Railway (WR) has been allotted Chandreshkumar Shankhala, Hitesh Sharma, Prachi Rathi, Monika Srivastava, and Sanjay Yadav.
North Central Railway (NCR) has received Rupali Dixit, Nikhil Kumar Singh, Himanshu Gupta, and Pawan Panday, while South East Central Railway (SECR) has been allotted Abhishek Dange, Nikita Singh, and Abhay Deep Singh.
Several officers have also been allocated to South Central Railway (SCR), including Suvan Sharma, Purnima Suden, Vasudha Arora, and Bhukya Ananth.
South East Railway (SER) has been allotted Anshu Kumari, Deepsha Bhattacharya, Abhinav Kumar Shukla, Nitish Kumar, and Atif Waquar Ekram Ansari.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) will receive Sourav Das, Dimple Kaushik, Sachin Gurjar, Ravindra Dan, and Roshan Prajapat, while East Central Railway (ECR) has been allotted Utkarsh Sinha, Shubham Shandilya, Bharti Sahu, Gaurav Singh, and Shiva Yadav.
South Western Railway (SCoR) has been assigned Kadumuri Hari Prasad Raju, Pranshu Gupta, Thejaswini N, and Sreelakshmi K V, whereas Central Railway (CR) will have Vedanshi, Saurabh, Nishu Tyagi, Priyanshu Jain, and Shubham.
The allocations also include North Eastern Railway (NER), which has been allotted Kumud Bartwal, Khyati Goyal, Anukriti Tomar, Atul Sharma, and Bharat Pal Singh.
Meanwhile, North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has received Rituraj Sharma and Indumathi K, while North Western Railway (NWR) has been allotted Adesh Sharma and Ramnaresh Meena.
The Southern Railway (SR) will welcome Rashidali A, Sooraj R K, and Ahras A N as part of the new batch.
According to the Railway Board, the zonal allocations have been made strictly in accordance with the prevailing policy governing the distribution of officers among different railway zones. The process ensures balanced manpower deployment across the Indian Railways while taking into account administrative requirements and cadre management norms.
The IRMS was created as part of the Government’s reforms to unify various Group ‘A’ railway services into a single management cadre. Officers selected through the Civil Services Examination undergo specialized training before being assigned to operational responsibilities across the country’s vast railway network.
With the completion of the zonal allocation process, the 62 probationers of the IRMS (Traffic) 2023 batch are set to begin the next phase of their careers, contributing to train operations, freight logistics, passenger services, capacity enhancement, and the modernization of one of the world’s largest railway systems. The newly posted officers are expected to play an important role in improving operational efficiency and supporting Indian Railways’ ongoing expansion and transformation initiatives.
