Nashik’s Niphad Station ROB Project Nears Completion, Enhancing Railway Safety and Onion Transport
In a significant infrastructure development near Nashik, the construction of the Niphad Station Road Over Bridge (ROB) continues to make substantial progress, specifically for the closure of LC Gate no. 99A. Here are the key highlights of this vital project:
Milestone Achieved:
- Girder Launching Above Railway Tracks: Successfully completed at 100%
- Approach Construction on Both Sides: Currently at 60% completion
- Total Length of Approaches: 1300 meters
Bridge Specifications:
- Total Spans: Comprising 3 spans of 10.4 meters, 31.2 meters, and 10.4 meters
- Work in Progress: 11 out of 29 piers on approaches
- Piles: 97 out of 194
- Abutment: 5 out of 7
- Girder RCC: All 56 segments successfully in place
- Slab: 18 out of 58
Additionally, in the Central Railway Zone for the period of April to October 2023, substantial progress has been made with the completion of:
- 21 Road Over Bridges
- 14 Road Under Bridges
In the grander scheme, a total of 30 ROBs and 90 RUBs have been sanctioned for construction, with planned expenditure of 714.35 Crores for ROB/RUB for LC gate closure this year, of which 44.35% (316.87 Crores) has already been disbursed.
Notably, the Central Railway Zone has successfully constructed 117 ROBs and 531 RUBs, investing a total of 2220 Crores between 2014 and 2023. The imminent completion of the Niphad Station ROB is expected to enhance railway safety and the efficient movement of onion trucks, significantly benefiting the Pimpalgaon onion mandi, one of the largest onion markets in Asia.
