General Council meeting of Lalit Kala Akademi National Academy of Arts held after 9 yrs
The General Council Meeting of the Lalit Kala Akademi National Academy of Arts, an autonomous organisation of Ministry of Culture, was held on Thursday after a gap of nine years and several governing members were either elected or selected.
Nand Lal Thakur, the General Council member from Himachal Pradesh, unanimously elected as Vice Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi.
Chairman Uttam Pacharne said, “I thank the General Council members for the smooth functioning of the meeting and passing resolutions unanimously. It is an ample proof of the cultural unity of the Indian artistic community as well as their faith in the policies of government to promote art and culture.”
“The General Council meeting was held after a gap of nine long years. First time in the history of Akademi, members showed unanimity in almost all the decisions, including the formation of committees, which is a sign of goodwill towards the herculean effort of the Akademi to create consensus among the Art fraternity,” he said.
Pacharne made several announcements to serve the Artists community in the meeting.
These include the proposals for opening of new Regional Centres at Pune in Maharashtra, Hubli in Karnataka, Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Agartala in Tripura and organising 75 major programmes to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence in 2021.
