Boost to Overnight Railway Connectivity

The launch of the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express represents another step in Indian Railways’ efforts to expand its premium semi-high-speed train services beyond daytime chair-car operations.

Bengaluru and Mumbai are two major economic centres, with substantial passenger movement involving IT professionals, business travellers, students, tourists and other commuters. The new service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Karnataka and Maharashtra, particularly those seeking overnight connectivity.

The inclusion of Pune as an important intermediate stop is also significant, considering the movement of passengers between Pune and Bengaluru, two major IT and industrial hubs.

The service will also strengthen connectivity for passengers from several cities in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, including Kalaburagi, Raichur, Yadgir, Guntakal and Anantapur.

With its sleeper accommodation, modern train configuration and scheduled journey time of approximately 16 hours, the new Vande Bharat service provides an additional premium travel option on one of India’s important inter-state railway corridors.

Passengers can check the latest timetable, seat availability and applicable fares through the official IRCTC website and railway reservation platforms.

The Bengaluru–Mumbai service is South India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper connection and another expansion of India’s growing Vande Bharat network.
