Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Announces New Railway Station Near Khatu Shyam Ji Temple to Boost Pilgrim Connectivity

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday held a meeting with a delegation from the Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple Trust, Sikar, Rajasthan, and announced plans for the construction of a new railway station near the renowned Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, a move aimed at improving rail connectivity and enhancing travel facilities for millions of pilgrims.
The delegation comprised former Sikar Member of Parliament Sumedhanand Saraswati, Rajasthan Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Urban Development and Housing Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, along with representatives of the Shri Shyam Mandir Committee, including Shri Shakti Singh Chauhan, Shri Maanvendra Singh Chauhan and Shri Mohan Singh (Das) Chauhan.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the growing need to strengthen railway connectivity and passenger amenities for the large number of devotees visiting the internationally renowned Khatu Shyam Ji Temple every year. They also expressed gratitude to the Railway Minister for the continued efforts of Indian Railways in modernising railway infrastructure and improving the travel experience of pilgrims.
Addressing the delegation, Ashwini Vaishnaw informed them that the proposed railway station would provide safer, faster and more convenient rail access to devotees travelling to the temple. The new station is planned on the Sikar–Ringas railway section between Palsana and Baori Thikria stations, strategically located to serve the pilgrimage destination.
The Railway Minister said the project would first undergo detailed technical and engineering work before construction begins. The initial phase will include engineering surveys, signalling works on the existing railway lines, construction of the required railway infrastructure and integration of the new station with the existing rail network. Construction of the station building will commence after completion of these technical activities.
Situated around 11 kilometres from the famous Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, the proposed station has been planned with a design that reflects Rajasthan’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. According to the Railway Ministry, the station will feature a modern booking office, spacious waiting halls, clean and accessible toilets, passenger-friendly facilities and other essential amenities to ensure a comfortable and convenient journey for travellers.
The project is expected to significantly improve rail accessibility for the lakhs of devotees who visit the temple annually from across India. Better railway connectivity is also likely to reduce travel time and ease congestion during major religious events and festivals, when the temple witnesses a massive influx of pilgrims.
Beyond improving passenger convenience, the proposed railway station is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, boost religious tourism and generate new economic opportunities in the surrounding areas. Improved transport infrastructure is likely to benefit local businesses, create employment opportunities and support the overall development of the region.
The proposed station forms part of Indian Railways’ broader strategy of developing modern, passenger-centric infrastructure while catering to the increasing mobility needs of pilgrims and local communities. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance the railway network in Rajasthan and provide a major boost to religious tourism centred around the revered Khatu Shyam Ji Temple.
