Railways Minister reviews ₹300-crore station redevelopment project, interacts with passengers and workers, and arranges a confirmed Amrit Bharat Express ticket for construction worker Dashrath Kumar

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a surprise inspection of Gurugram Railway Station, reviewing the progress of the station’s ongoing redevelopment project and interacting directly with passengers and workers. The visit highlighted the government’s focus on upgrading railway infrastructure while maintaining close engagement with railway users and frontline workers.
During the inspection, the minister took stock of the redevelopment work being carried out at the station under a project estimated to cost around ₹300 crore. Officials briefed him on the progress of construction activities and the planned transformation of the station into a modern, world-class transport hub equipped with enhanced passenger amenities and improved facilities.
Vaishnaw closely examined various aspects of the redevelopment project and directed officials to ensure that the work is completed efficiently and within the stipulated timelines. The redevelopment is aimed at improving passenger convenience, modernizing station infrastructure, and enhancing the overall travel experience.
As part of his visit, the minister also interacted with passengers present at the station. He sought feedback on railway services, travel experiences, and issues faced during their journeys. Passengers shared their suggestions and concerns regarding station facilities and train services, while the minister assured them that continuous efforts are being made to improve the quality of railway operations across the country.
The most memorable moment of the inspection, however, came during Vaishnaw’s interaction with construction workers engaged in the station’s redevelopment work. The minister met several labourers who have been working on the project and appreciated their contribution to the modernization of railway infrastructure.
During the interaction, a worker named Dashrath Kumar and some of his colleagues expressed their desire to travel on the Amrit Bharat Express, one of Indian Railways’ modern trains designed to provide improved travel facilities to passengers. Listening to their request, the minister responded immediately and directed railway officials present at the site to make arrangements.
Acting on the minister’s instructions, officials promptly arranged a confirmed ticket for Dashrath Kumar on the New Delhi–Patna Amrit Bharat Express. The gesture brought visible joy to the worker and his colleagues, who expressed gratitude for the minister’s quick response and thoughtful action.
The incident drew attention from passengers and railway staff present at the station, with many appreciating the minister’s willingness to engage directly with workers and address their aspirations. Officials said the interaction reflected the importance of recognizing the efforts of the workforce that contributes to major infrastructure projects across the railway network.
The inspection concluded with a review of ongoing construction activities and future plans for the station. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure while ensuring that the voices of passengers and workers remain an integral part of the development process.
