Western Rajasthan gets direct rail connectivity with Delhi and Jaipur for the first time, boosting trade, tourism and passenger convenience.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday flagged off the inaugural Jalore–Delhi special rail service from Jalore Railway Station, marking a major milestone in railway connectivity for western Rajasthan. The newly launched train service is expected to significantly improve travel facilities and boost economic development in the Jalore region and adjoining areas.

Train number 04875, the Jalore–Delhi inaugural special rail service, was flagged off in the presence of Jalore MP Lumbaram Choudhary, public representatives and senior railway officials of North Western Railway.

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that people of the Jalore region had been demanding improved rail connectivity for decades, and the launch of the new service has finally fulfilled that long-pending aspiration. He said the train service would provide direct rail connectivity to both Delhi and Jaipur for the first time to several areas of western Rajasthan, including Jalore, Marwar Bhinmal and Raniwara.

The Railway Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a demand pending since Independence has now been addressed. He added that the new rail service would strengthen regional development by making travel easier and more convenient for passengers while also improving access to business and tourism opportunities.

Vaishnaw highlighted that improved railway connectivity would benefit local trade and industries, particularly the granite sector, which is a major economic activity in the region. He said the Railways is prepared to support industrial growth through the development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, which could help streamline transportation of granite and other goods from the area.

Speaking about railway infrastructure development in Rajasthan, the minister said projects worth more than ₹76,800 crore are currently under implementation across the state. He also noted that 85 railway stations in Rajasthan are being redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme to provide world-class passenger amenities and modern infrastructure.

According to the minister, major stations such as Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Abu Road, Pali Marwar and Jaisalmer are being redesigned in line with local architecture, art and cultural themes, transforming them into modern transit hubs and tourist attractions.

Vaishnaw further said that Rajasthan has witnessed major railway expansion after the Covid period, with 46 pairs of new trains introduced in the state. These include premium services such as Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and several new express trains aimed at improving passenger mobility.

During the programme, Jalore MP Lumbaram Choudhary thanked the Railway Minister and said the launch of the train service fulfilled a decades-old demand of the people of the region. He said the new connectivity would greatly benefit students, traders, tourists and passengers travelling between Rajasthan, Gujarat and the national capital.

Several dignitaries attended the inaugural event, including Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg, Ahore MLA Chhagan Singh, Sanchore MLA Jeevaram Choudhary, North Western Railway General Manager Amitabh and Jodhpur Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi.

The newly launched rail service will halt at several important stations including Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Bhildi, Dhanera, Raniwara, Marwar Bhinmal, Modran, Jalore, Mokalsar, Samdari, Luni, Pali Marwar, Marwar Junction, Beawar, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Jaipur, Gandhinagar Jaipur, Bandikui, Alwar and Rewari.
