“Recognise Your Child’s Potential, Stand By Them, and Success Will Follow: Anju Bobby George”

Parents play the most crucial role in identifying and nurturing a child’s abilities. The world came to know Anju Bobby George because her parents stood by her—especially her mother. She began training at the age of five. People in the neighbourhood would ask her mother, “Why are you sending her into sports?” Her mother replied, “I can see her potential in sports.” Ignoring what others said, she firmly supported Anju. She would stand in the scorching sun the entire day while Anju trained. With her parents’ support and dedication, Anju achieved great heights.

The message in Anju’s words was clear: understand your child, recognise the talent hidden within them, and stand by them—then success will never be far.
She shared these thoughts at the 21st Foundation Day celebration of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School. Anju Bobby George is a former Indian athlete, Olympian, Arjuna Awardee, Khel Ratna recipient, and Padma Shri awardee.

Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman of Seth Anandram Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, addressed the gathering and highlighted the school’s 21-year journey and its commitment to nurturing compassionate, confident, and future-ready learners. He said, “Our educational philosophy is based on the three pillars of new-age learning—relevance, resilience, and reflection. We focus on fostering leadership and future readiness in our learners.”

Dhwani Jaipuria, Director of the Seth Anandram Jaipuria Group, said that every child is unique and possesses a different talent. “We always keep this in mind. We also ensure that parents stay aware of their child’s progress. Continuous communication between parents and the school is essential because parents are not spectators—they are partners.”
She added that at their school, students are prepared not just for careers but also for life itself.

School Director-Principal Shalini Nambiar shared this year’s report card and explained how various systems and facilities have been strengthened over time. She spoke about student achievements and emphasised the school’s focus on innovation. The event, themed ‘Sadbhav – The Strength of Our Bonds’, highlighted the values of unity, harmony, and shared humanity that form the foundation of the institution. A significant moment of the evening was the unveiling of the School Chronicle – ‘IGNITE’, capturing the students’ achievements, creative expressions, and major milestones of the academic year.

During the event, Anju Bobby George also recalled an incident from 2004—how illness made her miss winning a medal for India. But she persevered, and the next time, she won gold. She encouraged students, saying: “Dream big. Even if you stumble or fall, tell yourself—You are good enough. So dream, and keep dreaming. Success will surely follow.”

She also urged children to give back to society, saying that whatever they achieve or learn, they should return it to the community with a spirit of gratitude.
