Railways Announces Summer Special Trains for Pune and Mumbai

Daily and weekly services from Danapur and Samastipur to ease passenger rush during peak vacation season

In view of the heavy rush of passengers during the summer vacation season, Indian Railways has announced the operation of several summer special trains connecting key destinations including Pune and Mumbai with Danapur and Samastipur. The move is aimed at easing travel demand and ensuring smoother connectivity for passengers travelling between Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and adjoining regions.

The special trains will run on daily as well as weekly schedules via major routes such as Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction (DDU), Prayagraj Chheoki, Jabalpur, and Bhusaval. These services are expected to provide significant relief to passengers facing waitlists during peak summer travel.


Pune–Danapur–Hadapsar (Pune) Special (Daily)

Indian Railways will operate train numbers 01449/01450 between Pune and Danapur on a daily basis till mid-July 2026.

Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Danapur Special (Daily)

Another daily summer special, Train No. 01143/01144, will run between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) and Danapur.

For passengers travelling to North Bihar, Indian Railways has introduced a weekly special service (Train No. 01043/01044) between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Samastipur.

Railway officials said that the introduction of these special trains is part of a broader strategy to manage the seasonal surge in passenger traffic during summer vacations. Routes connecting Bihar and Maharashtra witness particularly high demand, with thousands of passengers travelling for work, education, and family visits.

The addition of these trains is expected to reduce waiting lists, improve seat availability, and enhance passenger convenience. The services will run through key junctions, ensuring connectivity to multiple regions along the route.

Passengers are advised to check train schedules and book tickets in advance through official railway platforms to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
