Banaras Locomotive Works Organizes Seminar on World Breastfeeding Day

On August 3rd, in observance of World Breastfeeding Day, a seminar was organized at the conference hall of the Central Hospital of Banaras Locomotive Works. The event was led by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Devesh Kumar, and saw participation from Banaras Locomotive Works Hospital and Popular College of Nursing and Paramedical Institute, Varanasi.

During the program, Dr. Devesh Kumar, the Chief Medical Officer of Banaras Locomotive Works, addressed the attendees, highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding and encouraged the audience to promote and support breastfeeding to ensure the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of children, especially for working mothers.

The program, themed “Enabling Breastfeeding: Making A Difference for Working Parents,” focused on various aspects of breastfeeding and its practical implementation. The event witnessed a short play presented by the third-year students of the Popular College of Nursing and Paramedical Institute, including Mamta, Ranjana, Priyanka Kushwaha, Neha, Nikki, Nivedita, Priyanka, Sweta Kumari, Sweta Sharma, Anamika, and Kumari Mamta, portraying the importance of breastfeeding and disseminating its message in society.

During the program, Dr. S.K. Sharma, a pediatric specialist from Banaras Locomotive Works, elaborated on the various beneficial aspects of breastfeeding. Dr. Madhulika Singh, a gynecology specialist, shed light on the significant points related to breastfeeding in her introductory speech.

The event was attended by V. M. Ch. Adhikari, Dr. Vijay Durga Singh, S. N. Officer, Smt. Geeta Kumari Chaudhary, along with nursing sisters Anjana Todd, Kamla Srivastava, Sunila A. Lal, Sita Singh, Usha Jaiswal, Usha Devi, Anju Singh, Aarti, and Pratima Singh, and other paramedical staff of the hospital. The program witnessed a large number of attendees who actively participated and benefited from the knowledge shared during the seminar.
