Agra Cantt Railway Station Conducts Intensive Security Checks Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Festivals
Railway Protection Force and Dog Squad Carry Out Extensive Inspection of Station Premises, Platforms and Waiting Rooms

Indian Railways has intensified security arrangements at Agra Cantt Railway Station ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals, with a special intensive inspection campaign conducted to ensure passenger safety and prevent the transportation of hazardous materials. The campaign involved a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Dog Squad, which carried out detailed inspections of the station premises, platforms, waiting rooms and passenger belongings.
The security drive was conducted under the direction of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Agra Division, Gagan Goyal, as part of the railway administration’s efforts to strengthen safety and security arrangements during the festive season. With passenger movement expected to increase significantly during Diwali and Chhath, railway authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance at stations and other important locations.
The inspection campaign was conducted under the leadership of Agra Station Director Santosh Tripathi and Assistant Security Commissioner, Agra, T.K. Agnihotri. Personnel from the Railway Protection Force, supported by the Dog Squad, participated in the operation.

Dog Squad Assists in Intensive Station Inspection
During the special security operation, the joint RPF and Dog Squad team conducted systematic checks across different areas of Agra Cantt Railway Station.
The inspection covered the station premises, platforms and passenger waiting rooms. The security personnel also examined passenger luggage as part of the preventive security exercise.
The deployment of the Dog Squad formed an important component of the inspection campaign, enabling security personnel to conduct checks for potentially dangerous or suspicious materials.
The exercise was aimed at identifying possible security threats and preventing prohibited and hazardous items from being carried into railway premises or trains.
Railway authorities are particularly focusing on preventive security measures during the festive season, when railway stations witness increased passenger footfall and a higher volume of luggage movement.
The intensive inspection drive is part of the broader security arrangements being implemented by the Agra Division to ensure that passengers can travel safely during the festival period.
Passengers Warned Against Carrying Firecrackers and Explosives
An important component of the campaign was passenger awareness regarding the risks associated with carrying inflammable and explosive materials during train journeys.
During the inspection, railway security personnel informed passengers that carrying firecrackers, explosive substances or other inflammable materials inside trains and railway station premises is prohibited.
Passengers were specifically advised not to transport such dangerous materials in their luggage or personal belongings.
Railway authorities highlighted that the transportation of firecrackers and other hazardous substances can create serious safety risks for passengers, railway employees and railway infrastructure.
The risk becomes particularly significant during the festive season, when people may carry firecrackers and other festival-related materials while travelling to their hometowns.
The railway administration therefore urged passengers to exercise caution and strictly follow railway safety regulations.
The awareness campaign was intended not only to strengthen enforcement but also to encourage passengers to take responsibility for maintaining safety during their journeys.
Heightened Vigilance During Diwali and Chhath
Diwali and Chhath are among the major festivals associated with extensive passenger movement across the Indian Railways network. During this period, large numbers of people travel to their hometowns and native places, resulting in increased pressure on railway stations and train services.
Agra Cantt is an important railway station in Uttar Pradesh, serving passengers travelling to several destinations. The increase in passenger movement during the festive period makes effective security arrangements essential.
Keeping these requirements in view, the Agra Division has instructed concerned railway officials and security personnel to maintain special vigilance and monitoring at stations.
The administration is focusing on preventive inspections and passenger awareness to minimise the possibility of security-related incidents.
The special checking campaign also reflects the importance of coordination between railway station management and security agencies during periods of heavy passenger traffic.
The participation of the RPF and Dog Squad enables security teams to conduct more comprehensive inspections of station areas and passenger belongings.
Passengers Asked to Report Suspicious Objects and Activities
Along with the inspection campaign, the railway administration has appealed to passengers to cooperate with security personnel and follow all prescribed safety regulations.
Passengers have been advised to immediately inform the Railway Protection Force or concerned railway employees if they notice any suspicious object, unattended luggage or unusual activity within railway station premises or inside trains.
Timely reporting of suspicious objects and activities can help security agencies take preventive action and avoid potential threats.
Railway authorities have also urged travellers not to ignore security instructions and to cooperate with checking procedures conducted at stations.
The administration emphasised that passenger cooperation is essential for maintaining a safe railway environment, particularly during festivals when stations experience heavy crowds.
Focus on Safe and Smooth Festive Travel
The intensive security campaign at Agra Cantt Railway Station forms part of the Agra Division’s preparations to ensure safe and convenient travel during Diwali and Chhath.
Under the direction of DRM Gagan Goyal, the railway administration is maintaining special vigilance and monitoring arrangements to strengthen passenger security.
The joint inspection by the RPF and Dog Squad, along with awareness activities, is aimed at preventing the transportation of hazardous materials and ensuring compliance with railway safety rules.
Railway authorities have appealed to all passengers to remain alert, avoid carrying prohibited materials and report suspicious activities without delay.
The administration has reiterated that following security regulations and cooperating with railway personnel are essential to ensuring safe, secure and hassle-free journeys during the festive season.
