Soon, rail passengers in Delhi can avail doorstep pickup, delivery of luggage

The Northern Railway’s Delhi division will introduce an app-based ‘bags on wheels’ service which would facilitate doorstep pickup of passenger luggage and its delivery at home or train coach.

Using BOW APP which will be available for Android and iPhone users, passengers will raise their demand for carrying their luggage to the railway station or to their home, said Rajiv Chaudhry, the General Manager of northern and north-central railways

Luggage will be picked up by the contractor in a secured manner and will be delivered to the coach or home as per booking preference of passenger, he said.

The firm will provide door-to-door service to railway passengers on a nominal fee, the officer said, adding it would be very helpful for senior citizens, physically challenged and women passengers travelling alone.

The unique feature of this service would be that the delivery of the luggage would be ensured prior to departure of the train to provide ease of travelling experience to passengers.

Initially, the firm will provide its services for the passengers boarding trains from New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Cantonment, Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon railway stations, Chaudhry said.
