Northern Railway Civil Defence Members Voluntarily Serving the Passengers Boarding the Shramik Specials

At the times of the global Pandemic caused by the spread of the highly contagious Covid-19 virus Northern Railway is striving in every way to strengthen the efforts being put in by the Government to make the life of the people easier in the lock down. Special trains are being run to help the stranded people reach their destinations. Assets of Northern Railway are being utilized to optimum and innovative uses. Rail coaches have been converted into mobile quarantine centres, WHO standard protective gears (PPEs) are being produced in the Maintenance workshops and the tertiary medical hospitals have been converted into Covid-19 Care Centres.

The employees of Northern Railway are putting ‘service before self’ in these testing times and are involved in the running of the Shramik & Rajdhani type passenger specials, cargo & goods trains, maintenance and infrastructure building of Railways and are also taking care of the underprivileged. In this connection, Northern Railway Civil Defence Volunteers are rendering invaluable service to the society keeping up their motto “सर्व भूत हिते: रत:” which means ‘working for the benefit of all living things’. They have been voluntarily helping and guiding the passengers at various important Railway stations of Northern railway to board the Shramik Special trains.

At Delhi Jn. Railway station of the Capital, the Civil Defence volunteers ensure that all passengers strictly follow the norms set for travelling on the trains. They help in the movement of the travellers in an orderly manner on the platforms, maintaining social distancing. They also distribute face masks stitched by the volunteers themselves to the passengers who need them.The volunteers also help in sanitizing the platforms and the train coaches.
