Bullet train project: Larsen and Toubro lowest bidder for construction of viaduct between Vadodara, Ahmedabad

Financial bids for the design and construction of a viaduct between Vadodara and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, including construction of Anand/Nadiad Station for Mumbai- Ahmedabad Bullet train corridor were opened on Monday and Larsen and Toubro Ltd is the lowest bidder.

A total of three bidders involving seven major Indian infrastructural companies had participated in the competitive bidding. The other bidders were Afcons Infrastructure Limited – IRCON International Limited – JMC Projects India Ltd- Consortium and NCC Limited – Tata Project Ltd.- J. Kumar Infra Projects Ltd. – HSR Consortium

Technical bids for this tender were opened on September 25.

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has already awarded work for 237 km of viaduct between Vapi and Vadodara in Gujarat including four elevated HSR stations namely Vapi, Billimora, Surat and Bharuch and one Train depot at Surat to Larsen and Toubro Ltd.

Sixty-six per cent of the land required for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project has been acquired. Of this, 86 per cent is in Gujarat and 22 per cent in Maharashtra, Railway Board Chairman and CEO V K Yadav said.

The contract for Design and Construction of 237 km between Vapi and Vadodara has been awarded. In this stretch, four stations — Vapi, Bilmora, Surat and Bharuch — will be built at a value of Rs 24,985 crore.
