Significance of Hyderabad Liberation Day:

Hyderabad Liberation Day marks the end of Nizam’s tyrannical rule and the integration of Telangana with India. It is a day to remember the sacrifices made by numerous freedom fighters and patriots during the struggle for liberation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating this historic day, ensuring that younger generations understand the significance of this chapter in India’s history.

The event also witnessed the virtual foundation stone-laying ceremony for 48 Type-III family houses of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Ibrahimpatnam, valued at Rs 20 crore.

Additionally, postal stamps were issued in memory of journalist and martyr Shoaibullah Khan and Ramji Gond on this occasion.

Promoting Telangana Liberation Day:

Amit Shah announced that the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India would celebrate Telangana Liberation Day every year on September 17. This initiative aims to educate and inspire the younger generation about the sacrifices made during the liberation of Hyderabad and to instill patriotic values.

He highlighted three objectives behind this celebration: instilling patriotism, paying tribute to martyrs, and recommitting to fulfilling the dream of building India as envisioned by the freedom fighters.

End of Nizam’s Rule:

The cruel Nizam’s rule in Hyderabad, which lasted for 399 days after India gained independence, subjected the local populace to immense suffering. Sardar Patel, recognizing the urgency of the situation, initiated the Hyderabad Police Action to liberate the region. The surrender of the Nizam’s army on September 17, 1948, marked the end of this oppressive regime.

Amit Shah called upon the people of Telangana, Kalyana Karnataka, and Marathwada to remember this historic day and the sacrifices made by countless individuals. By doing so, future generations can draw inspiration and contribute to the country’s development.

Inclusion of Telangana Liberation Day:

The Home Minister expressed regret that, for 75 years, successive governments had failed to properly inform the youth about this significant day due to political considerations. However, he lauded Prime Minister Modi’s decision to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17, 2022, and continue this tradition.

By educating the youth about this critical phase in India’s history and paying homage to the martyrs, the government aims to foster patriotism and dedication to the nation.

Recognition of India’s Progress:

Amit Shah underscored India’s remarkable progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted India’s economic ascent, technological achievements, and global recognition as key accomplishments during the past nine years.

He praised Prime Minister Modi’s vision for the country, which has elevated India’s stature and heritage on the international stage.

Distribution of Motorized Tricycles:

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities organized a camp for the distribution of motorized tricycles to Divyangjan. Amit Shah distributed 173 tricycles to eligible beneficiaries in Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency and Hyderabad city.

Today’s event marked a significant milestone in celebrating Hyderabad Liberation Day and recognizing the sacrifices of those who contributed to the region’s freedom and integration with India.
