Severe Storm and Heavy Rainfall Damage Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Causing Service Disruption
Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express Cancelled on May 22nd due to Storm Damage in Bhadrak
Bhadrak, May 21 – The Vande Bharat Express, operating between Puri and Howrah, suffered significant damage in Bhadrak due to a fierce storm accompanied by heavy rainfall. The Puri-bound train was forced to come to a halt near Vaitarani Road station at approximately 4:30 PM on May 21. The adverse weather conditions caused the snapping of electrical wires due to strong winds and the train being affected by the stormwater.
In response to the situation, railway authorities promptly dispatched a diesel engine to transport the affected Vande Bharat Express to the nearest station. Simultaneously, the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express has been sent to the workshop for repairs to address the substantial damages incurred during the storm. However, due to the unavailability of an alternative rake, the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express service has been canceled for May 22.
The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by severe weather conditions and highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and reliability of train services. Railway officials are working diligently to restore the disrupted services and minimize any inconvenience caused to passengers. Updates regarding the resumption of regular operations will be communicated to passengers in a timely manner.
Travelers planning to use the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express are advised to check for updates and make alternate arrangements for their journeys. The railway authorities are committed to providing a safe and efficient rail network and are taking all necessary steps to rectify the damages and resume normal operations as soon as possible.
