PM Modi to Distribute Over 51,000 Government Job Appointment Letters at 19th Rozgar Mela
Youth selected for Railways, Home Affairs, Health, Financial Services and other departments to receive appointment letters across 47 locations nationwide on May 23.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates under the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela on May 23, 2026. The event will be held through video conferencing at 11 AM, during which the Prime Minister will also address the newly appointed youth joining various departments and ministries of the Government of India.
The Rozgar Mela has emerged as one of the Centre’s flagship employment generation initiatives aimed at providing government job opportunities to youth across the country. The programme reflects the government’s focus on accelerating recruitment processes and filling vacancies in key ministries and public sector institutions.
According to official information, the 19th Rozgar Mela will be organised simultaneously at 47 locations across India. Newly selected candidates from different states and regions will receive appointment letters for positions in multiple central government departments and organisations.
The recruits will join various ministries including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and Department of Higher Education, among others. The appointments cover a wide range of posts in administrative, technical, healthcare, financial and operational sectors.
Officials said the initiative is intended not only to generate employment opportunities for young people but also to strengthen the functioning of government institutions by filling long-pending vacancies. The government believes that faster recruitment and workforce expansion are essential for improving public service delivery and supporting economic growth.
Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela initiative, around 12 lakh appointment letters have reportedly been issued through 18 editions of the programme conducted across the country. The recruitment drives have covered several ministries, departments, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings.
The Ministry of Railways has remained one of the major participating departments in the Rozgar Mela, accounting for a significant number of recruitments over the previous editions. Large-scale appointments have also been made in departments linked to internal security, healthcare, education, banking and financial services.
Government officials stated that the Rozgar Mela aims to provide a transparent and streamlined recruitment process while ensuring that deserving candidates receive timely appointments. The initiative has also been positioned as part of the broader vision of empowering youth and enhancing their participation in nation-building.
Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly emphasised the importance of employment generation and skill development in his public addresses. The Rozgar Mela initiative was launched to speed up recruitment in government departments and create new opportunities for India’s growing youth population.
The upcoming event is expected to witness participation from thousands of newly recruited candidates through both physical and virtual modes at designated centres across the country. Senior officials and representatives from participating ministries are also likely to attend the programme at various locations.
The distribution of appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela comes at a time when employment generation remains a major focus area for the government. Officials say continued recruitment drives and expansion in public sector hiring are expected to contribute to administrative efficiency while opening up career opportunities for young aspirants across India.
With over 51,000 new appointment letters set to be distributed in the latest edition, the government aims to further strengthen its outreach to the youth and reinforce its commitment to employment creation through large-scale recruitment initiatives.
