Non-Interlocking Work on Chipadohar-Barwadih-Mangra Section to Impact Train Services; Several Trains Cancelled and Diverted

The Indian Railways has announced major changes in train operations due to non-interlocking (NI) work being undertaken for the commissioning of the third railway line between the Chipadohar, Barwadih and Mangra stations under the Dhanbad Division. The infrastructure upgrade, aimed at enhancing line capacity and improving train movement in the region, will affect rail services between June 22 and July 1, 2026.

As part of the project, several passenger and express trains have been cancelled, many long-distance trains will operate on diverted routes, and a few trains will temporarily skip their scheduled stoppage at Barwadih station.

Railway officials said the third-line commissioning work is essential for increasing operational efficiency and handling the growing traffic on this important rail corridor connecting Jharkhand, Bihar and eastern India.

The cancellations are expected to affect daily commuters and passengers travelling between Jharkhand and Bihar, particularly those relying on passenger and MEMU services.

Passengers intending to board or deboard these trains at Barwadih have been advised to use nearby stations such as Daltonganj or Mangra for their journey.

Third-Line Project to Enhance Capacity

The commissioning of the third railway line on the Chipadohar-Barwadih-Mangra section is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency in the region. The additional line will facilitate smoother movement of passenger and freight trains, reduce congestion, and improve punctuality on one of the important rail corridors of eastern India.

Railway officials said that while the temporary disruptions may cause inconvenience to passengers, the infrastructure upgrade will provide long-term benefits by increasing capacity and improving connectivity across Jharkhand, Bihar and neighbouring states.

Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedules through official railway enquiry services before travelling and make alternative arrangements wherever necessary during the non-interlocking work period.
