Major Progress in Itarsi-Nagpur New 3rd Line Project with ₹2449.91 Cr. Investment

In a significant development for railway infrastructure, the Itarsi-Nagpur New 3rd Line project is making substantial strides with a total cost of ₹2449.91 Crores. As of the latest update, an expenditure of ₹1051.49 Crores has been incurred on the project.

  • Total Length: 297.05 Km
  • Length Commissioned: 93.95 Km
  • Remaining Length: 203.1 Km
  • Land Acquisition Completed: 77.29 / 99.25 Hectare (76.84%)

B) Near Completion Sections: 11.68 Km (3.93%)

  • Kohli-Kalmeshwar

C) In Progress Sections: 191.42 Km (64.44%)

  • Chichonda–Itarsi
  • Nagpur–Kalmeshwar

Completed Works:

  • Earthwork including Blanketing: 46.65/103 Lcum (45%)
  • Important Bridges: 3 in Progress
  • Major Bridge + Rail Over Rail Bridge: 12/34 (36%)
  • Minor Bridge/RUB: 91/382 (24%)
  • Station Building: 9/30 (30%)
  • Track Linking: 85/280 Track Km (30%)
  • Overhead Equipment (OHE) Foundations: 1066/6666 (16%)
  • OHE Mast Erections: 970/6060 (8%)
  • OHE Wiring Track Km: 50/280 (17%)

Upon completion, the new 3rd line is expected to alleviate congestion on the Nagpur–Itarsi–Bhopal busy route, significantly enhancing the mobility of trains in the region. The project represents a crucial investment in improving rail connectivity and efficiency.
