Historic Inauguration of Malkangiri Airport Marks a Milestone in Odisha’s Development
In a momentous occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Malkangiri Airport today, propelling the district further down the path of transformation. This landmark achievement not only fulfills the long-held aspirations of the local populace but also heralds a new era of air connectivity for Malkangiri.
With a vision for enhanced communication, increased tourism, and bolstered trade, Chief Minister Patnaik expressed optimism about the positive impact the airport will have on the district and its surrounding areas. This development comes as part of the state’s larger strategy to establish air connectivity in remote regions, fostering accelerated growth and industrial development.
Malkangiri Airport, constructed at a cost of Rs 70 crore, sprawls over 233 acres of land and features a runway measuring 1620 meters in length and 30 meters in width. This strategic infrastructure investment is expected to play a pivotal role in catalyzing economic and industrial advancements in Odisha.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of not only Chief Minister Patnaik but also Chairman 5T and Nabin Odisha, V Karthik Pandian, underlining the significance of the occasion. Malkangiri now joins the league of other cities in the state, such as Jeypur in Koraput, Utkela in Kalahandi, Rourkela, and Rangeilunda in Ganjam, in enjoying the benefits of air connectivity, further positioning Odisha as a hub for inclusive and sustainable development.
