Dense Fog Grips Northern Regions, Disrupting Train Services in Delhi

In the early hours of today, extensive fog conditions were observed across various states in Northern India, causing disruptions in train schedules. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported very dense fog, with visibility less than 50 meters, in parts of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, isolated pockets in Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana-Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha experienced dense fog, with visibility ranging from 50 to 200 meters.

The visibility recorded at 0530 hours IST today revealed challenging conditions in several key locations. In Uttar Pradesh, cities like Bareilly, Varanasi (Babatpur), and Gorakhpur recorded a mere 25 meters of visibility. Other cities in the state, including Jhansi, Lucknow, and Varanasi, reported 50 meters, while Sultanpur recorded 500 meters. In Rajasthan, Jaisalmer recorded 50 meters, and Churu and Kota each reported 200 meters, with Jaipur having 500 meters of visibility. Bihar’s Purnia reported 50 meters, and Gaya reported 200 meters. Haryana-Chandigarh’s Ambala and Chandigarh recorded 200 meters each, and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh recorded 200 meters. Chandbali in Odisha reported 200 meters of visibility.

As a consequence of the dense fog, several trains arriving in the Delhi area are experiencing delays as of January 9, 2024. The affected trains and their respective delays are as follows:

  7. 12427 Rewa-Anand Vihar Exp: 01:30 hrs
  8. 12417 Prayagraj-New Delhi Express: 01:00 hr
  9. 12225 Azamgarh- Delhi Jn Kaifiyat Express: 02:15 hrs
  10. 12919 Ambedkarnagar- Katra Express: 02:30 hrs
  11. 12615 Chennai- New Delhi GT: 02:15 hrs
  12. 12723 Hyderabad-New Delhi Exp: 01:00 hr
  13. 12155 Rani Kamlapati-New Delhi Express: 01:00 hr
  14. 12414 Jammutawi- Ajmer Mail: 06:30 hrs

Passengers are advised to check for updates and make adjustments to their travel plans considering the prevailing weather conditions. The disruption is expected to persist until the fog conditions improve.
