Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Explores Economic Explosives Limited in Nagpur

Nagpur, December 22, 2023: Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, Indian Air Force (IAF), embarked on a two-day visit to the HQ Maintenance Command in Nagpur, commencing on December 22, 2023. His arrival was welcomed by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command.

As part of his visit, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari toured the facilities of Economic Explosives Limited (EEL) in Nagpur on December 22, 2023. Shri Satyanarayan Nandlal Nuwal, Founder, Chairman, and Executive Director of Solar Group of Industries, extended a warm reception to the esteemed guest. The Air Chief Marshal was given an extensive tour of various laboratories and facilities, gaining insights into the company’s cutting-edge products.

The visit encompassed exploration of integrated plants and production facilities specializing in ammunition and explosives, including the Chaff facility, Rocket Assembly bay, and the intricate processes involved in the mixing and casting of Pinaka Rockets.

In an interactive session, the Chairman of Solar Industries briefed the Chief of the Air Staff about the indigenous projects underway at the firm. Discussions included topics such as military explosives, rocket integration, loitering munition systems, weaponized drones (hexacopter), anti-drone missiles, bombs, and warheads tailored for the armed forces.

Two specific projects related to the development of 125 Kg Bombs and Chaffs & Flares for the Indian Air Force were presented to Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. The Chief of the Air Staff lauded the company’s efforts and emphasized that the indigenous development of the Universal Bomb, along with Chaffs & Flares, would significantly contribute to the ‘Atma Nirbharta Abhiyan’ (self-reliance mission) in the domain of ammunition and defense systems. The visit underscored the collaborative efforts between the Indian Air Force and industry players in advancing indigenous capabilities.
