Binny Bansal Inaugurates Exhibition Hall at IIT Delhi, Inspires Students

Binny Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart, inaugurated an exhibition hall named in his honour at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s history. The event was attended by faculty, staff, students, and the institute’s Director, Rangan Banerjee.
The exhibition hall, located on the ground floor of the Main Administrative Building, was named after Bansal following an announcement made in December 2025, recognising his generous philanthropic contributions and continued engagement with his alma mater. His support has played a key role in strengthening IIT Delhi’s academic and innovation ecosystem.
Addressing the gathering, Bansal reflected on his journey and connection with the institute. He expressed hope that the newly inaugurated space would encourage students to innovate and pursue ambitious ideas. “IIT Delhi is where it all began for me. I hope this exhibition hall becomes a space where students dare to imagine the future and showcase their ideas,” he said.
The hall holds emotional significance for alumni, as it was previously used as an examination centre. It has now been transformed into a modern, dynamic space designed for student activities, institutional showcases, and collaborative learning.
Director Rangan Banerjee praised Bansal’s contribution, calling it a model of giving back to one’s alma mater. He said the hall would serve as a lasting source of inspiration for generations of students and a tribute to Bansal’s vision and philanthropy.
Earlier in the day, Bansal also participated in an interactive fireside chat with students, where he shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey, including the early days of building Flipkart. He spoke about challenges, lessons learned, and his vision for India’s evolving technology landscape.
The session saw enthusiastic participation, with students engaging directly with one of India’s leading startup pioneers. The interaction left many inspired to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by Bansal’s family and close associates, concluded on a celebratory note, highlighting the strong and enduring bond between the alumnus and IIT Delhi.
