Ajit Pawar Sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra in a Political Turnaround

In a significant political development that has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Leader of Opposition, Ajit Pawar, took a surprising oath today as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. This unexpected move comes after Pawar resigned from his post as the LoP following a crucial meeting with NCP MLAs earlier in the day. With this development, Maharashtra will now have two deputy chief ministers, as BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis already holds the position.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Raj Bhawan, where eight other prominent NCP leaders, including Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, and Dilip Walse Patil, also took their oaths as ministers alongside Ajit Pawar. The event marked a significant consolidation of power within the NCP, as Hasan Mushrif, Aditi Tatkare, Sanjay Bansode, Dharmarao Baba Atram, and Anil Patil were among the other NCP leaders who pledged their commitments to their new roles.

This political shake-up has caused a stir in Maharashtra’s political landscape, raising questions about the future dynamics of the state government. The sudden change in the leadership structure is expected to have far-reaching consequences, altering the power balance within the ruling coalition. As Maharashtra enters a new phase of governance, it remains to be seen how the presence of two deputy chief ministers will shape the state’s political agenda and priorities moving forward.
