PM Narendra Modi’s Departure Statement as he Embarks on State Visit to USA and Egypt

New Delhi, 20 JUN 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a departure statement ahead of his visit to the United States of America and Egypt, expressing his enthusiasm to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.

During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Modi will partake in the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on June 21. This event holds special significance as it was the UN that supported India’s proposal in 2014 to designate an International Day of Yoga.

Following the New York leg, Prime Minister Modi will proceed to Washington D.C., where he will engage with President Joe Biden and other senior US leaders. The discussions aim to enhance the depth and diversity of the India-US partnership across various sectors such as trade, science and technology, education, health, defence, security, and the Indo-Pacific region. The visit also includes a State Banquet hosted by President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

Emphasizing the robust people-to-people connections, Prime Minister Modi looks forward to meeting the vibrant Indian-American community and leading CEOs to foster stronger trade and investment ties, as well as discuss the development of resilient global supply chains.

In addition to bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Modi’s visit will cover plurilateral forums including the G20, Quad, and IPEF, reinforcing India’s role in shaping the global agenda.

From Washington D.C., Prime Minister Modi will travel to Cairo, accepting the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This State Visit marks the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt. The rapid evolution of the partnership between the two nations, which was elevated to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during President Sisi’s visit to India, highlights the significance of this visit.

Prime Minister Modi’s discussions with President Sisi and senior Egyptian officials will focus on further strengthening the civilizational and multi-faceted partnership between India and Egypt. The visit will also provide an opportunity to interact with the Indian diaspora in Egypt, further deepening cultural ties.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States and Egypt aims to reinforce bilateral ties, based on shared values of democracy, diversity, and freedom. Through collaboration and collective efforts, both countries strive to address global challenges and create a better future.
