Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Honors Winners of JKP’s Water Sports Event ‘Jashn-e-Dal’ in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha commended the winners of the ‘Jashn-e-Dal’ Water Sports event organized by the Jammu Kashmir Police during a felicitation ceremony held in Srinagar.

Over the course of three days, 700 participants showcased their skills in 20 categories of Kayaking, Canoeing, and Slalom discipline.

Expressing his appreciation, the Lt Governor praised the J&K Police for their valuable contribution in nurturing young sporting talents and providing them opportunities through Civic Action Programmes to unleash their creative potential.

“The dream of every athlete is to participate in sporting events, excel in their respective areas, and become role models for the upcoming generation. The ongoing sports activities instill hope and confidence that our players can achieve remarkable feats,” stated the Lt Governor.

He emphasized that the vibrant sports culture reflects the aspirational image of Jammu and Kashmir, which is committed to building a better future for its youth. The Lt Governor acknowledged the significant role that athletes will play in this endeavor, contributing to the development of a strong and prosperous region.

The Lt Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing world-class facilities, coaching, and mentorship to young sporting talents in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are shaping a new sporting future for J&K. It is our collective responsibility to empower our sportspersons and unearth hidden talents in villages, enabling them to shine in international sporting events,” emphasized the Lt Governor.

He highlighted the achievements of sports personalities from J&K who have brought laurels to the nation on the global stage. The Lt Governor also recognized the efforts of sports associations and stakeholder departments in promoting sports in the union territory.

During the closing ceremony, the Lt Governor took part in an impressive pedal pass and interacted with the players. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Dilbag Singh, DGP; R K Goyal, ACS, Home Department; RR Swain, Special DG CID; SJM Gillani, ADGP J&K Armed Police, along with senior officials from the police and civil administration, members of water sports associations, prominent sports personalities, representatives of various sports clubs and associations, and a large number of youth attended the felicitation ceremony.
