Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on September 14, 2023: Unveiling Major Development Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to the central Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on September 14, 2023. During this visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several crucial projects aimed at fostering economic growth, infrastructure development, and healthcare in the region.

Madhya Pradesh Highlights:

In Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi will commence his day by laying the foundation stone for projects collectively valued at over Rs. 50,700 crore. One of the notable initiatives includes the Petrochemical Complex at Bina Refinery, a groundbreaking project with an estimated cost of Rs. 49,000 crore. This complex will produce approximately 1200 Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum (KTPA) of ethylene and propylene, critical components for sectors such as textiles, packaging, and pharmaceuticals. It represents a significant step toward reducing India’s dependence on imports and aligns with the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). Furthermore, this mega project is expected to generate employment opportunities and spur downstream industries in the petroleum sector.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several other projects, including the ‘Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone’ in Narmadapuram district, two IT parks in Indore, a Mega Industrial Park in Ratlam, and six new industrial areas spread across Madhya Pradesh. These initiatives are geared towards boosting economic growth and employment generation in the state, with a total cumulative investment of about Rs. 460 crore, Rs. 550 crore, Rs. 460 crore, and Rs. 310 crore, respectively.

Chhattisgarh Highlights:

In Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate several critical rail sector projects to the nation, collectively worth approximately Rs. 6,350 crore. These projects include the Chhattisgarh East Rail Project Phase-I, the third rail line between Champa to Jamga, the third rail line between Pendra Road to Anuppur, and the Merry-Go-Round (MGR) system connecting Talaipalli Coal Mine to NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station (STPS). These rail projects will enhance connectivity and contribute to socio-economic development by facilitating the movement of both passengers and freight traffic in the region.

The Chhattisgarh East Rail Project Phase-I, a part of the PM GatiShakti initiative for multi-modal connectivity, consists of a 124.8 km rail line, with feeder lines connecting various coal mines, built at a cost of around Rs. 3,055 crore. Additionally, the new rail lines and electrified MGR system will improve connectivity, tourism, and employment opportunities in the region.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for ‘critical care blocks’ in nine districts of Chhattisgarh, a crucial healthcare infrastructure development under the Pradhan Mantri – Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), with a total cost exceeding Rs. 210 crore.

Furthermore, in a concerted effort to combat sickle cell disease, particularly among the tribal population, Prime Minister Modi will distribute one lakh sickle cell counselling cards during the visit. This initiative aligns with the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission (NSAEM), launched by the Prime Minister in July 2023.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh underscores the government’s commitment to promoting industrial growth, infrastructure development, healthcare, and overall well-being in these states. The inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremonies mark significant milestones in the pursuit of these goals.
