Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Key Projects During Pune Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Pune, Maharashtra, on August 1. The visit will witness several significant events aimed at bolstering the city’s development and infrastructure.

The day will commence with the Prime Minister’s visit to Dagdusheth Mandir, where he will perform Darshan and Pooja. Subsequently, at 11:45 AM, he will be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the progress and development of the nation. The award is presented annually on the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, and Prime Minister Modi will be the 41st recipient of this distinguished accolade.

One of the key highlights of the visit will be the inauguration of the completed sections of the Pune Metro Phase I. At 12:45 PM, Prime Minister Modi will flag off metro trains on two corridors – from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. These new sections will connect crucial locations in Pune, including Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station. The Pune Metro project, for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in 2016, aligns with the vision of providing modern and eco-friendly mass rapid urban transport systems across the country.

Notably, some of the metro stations on the route draw inspiration from the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan and Deccan Gymkhana metro stations boast unique designs resembling the distinctive headgear, known as “Mavala Pagadi,” worn by soldiers during Shivaji Maharaj’s time. Furthermore, the Shivaji Nagar underground Metro station’s design is reminiscent of the majestic forts constructed by the revered historical figure.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant developed under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Valued at approximately Rs 300 crores, this plant will utilize around 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to generate electricity, contributing significantly to sustainable waste management.

As part of the mission to achieve “Housing for All,” Prime Minister Modi will hand over more than 1280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC. Additionally, he will also hand over more than 2650 PMAY houses constructed by Pune Municipal Corporation. Moreover, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for around 1190 PMAY houses by PCMC and more than 6400 houses by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune holds immense significance for the city’s growth and development. The various projects being inaugurated will further enhance Pune’s infrastructure and contribute to the welfare of its citizens.
