Tata Play Enhances Viewer Experience and Expands Services Through GSAT-24 Collaboration

In a significant stride towards India’s technological advancement, the commissioning of the GSAT-24 satellite has emerged as a monumental achievement, signaling the nation’s progress towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The collaborative efforts of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and Tata Play have ushered in a new era of satellite communication, aligning seamlessly with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The GSAT-24 satellite, a pioneering feat in India’s space exploration journey, signifies a significant leap into the Demand Driven Mission segment, underscoring the nation’s entrance into the realm of advanced telecommunications and broadcasting. A celebratory event held at Tata Play’s Broadcast Centre in New Delhi marked the successful deployment of GSAT-24, graced by prominent figures from the realms of space and communication.

Amidst the revelry, Apurva Chandra, Secretary of Information & Broadcasting, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Congratulations to Department of Space (DoS) and Tata Play for the successful commissioning of GSAT-24. This accomplishment marks yet another stride towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and self-reliance in the domain of space and communication.”

Tata Play, a leading player in the Direct-to-Home (DTH) services sector, has harnessed the potential of GSAT-24’s integration to elevate its capabilities. This strategic fusion enables Tata Play to broadcast an impressive array of 900 channels, extending its outreach across the nation, encompassing even remote regions like the North-East and the Andaman & Nicobar islands.

Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), S. Somanath, lauded the monumental significance of GSAT-24, characterizing it as a resounding accomplishment that showcases India’s prowess in aerospace technology. “This remarkable achievement heralds a revolution in India’s telecommunications sector, driven by cutting-edge indigenous technology. It underscores our nation’s aerospace excellence and marks India’s successful entry into the Demand Driven Mission segment,” emphasized Somanath.

The profound impact of this collaboration was highlighted by Radhakrishnan Durairaj, Chairman and Managing Director of NSIL, as he noted, “GSAT-24 signifies NSIL’s inaugural foray into Demand Driven communication satellite missions post space sector reforms. It is poised to usher in a new era of satellite television for India.”

Harit Nagpal, Tata Play’s MD & CEO, echoed the commitment to deliver an enhanced viewing experience and expanded offerings. “Our collaboration with NSIL sets the stage for an improved video and audio quality, alongside an extensive range of channels and services for our DTH subscribers,” affirmed Nagpal.
