Faridabad Railway Station Set to Undergo Transformation into a World-Class Facility

Ambitious Redevelopment Project Promises Modern Architecture, Top-notch Amenities, and Disabled-Friendly Features

Under the ambitious railway station redevelopment program of Indian Railways, Faridabad railway station, a major hub for trains traveling to and from Delhi, is slated for a comprehensive transformation into a world-class facility. With a total sanction cost of Rs. 261.97 Cr., the redevelopment project aims to provide railway passengers with an unparalleled travel experience.

The upcoming Faridabad railway station will boast two iconic buildings showcasing modern architecture on both sides, effectively integrating and serving the surrounding areas. Following an airport-like model, the station will feature segregated departure and arrival areas. Moreover, the facility will offer multi-level car parking (MLCP) on both sides, with a capacity to accommodate 250 four-wheelers and 350 two-wheelers. A spacious and well-equipped concourse will connect the two station buildings, offering ample waiting areas, lounges, retiring rooms, food courts, shopping facilities, and other amenities. Passenger convenience will be further enhanced through the provision of help desks for ticket booking, reservations, and other related services. Lifts and escalators will ensure easy access and mobility for disabled individuals. Additionally, two 12-meter-wide foot over bridges (FOBs) will be constructed, facilitating seamless movement within the station premises. The MLCPs, FOBs, and concourses will be interconnected, ensuring smooth navigation for passengers. The station will also integrate seamlessly with local transportation networks.

Notably, the Faridabad station redevelopment plan has already received approval for the master plan, circulation plan, station building, North Foot over Bridge, and General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) of the MLCP. The design of the North Foot over Bridge is currently in progress, while work on the MLCP is underway. Dismantling of railway quarters has already been completed, and the shifting of offices from the existing station building to temporarily built offices is in progress.

The transformation of Faridabad station into a world-class establishment holds significant promise for railway passengers. As a major station for trains traveling to and from Delhi, the redevelopment will offer enhanced comfort and convenience during their journeys. Haryana, as the host state, is poised to witness the emergence of a truly world-class transportation hub.
