2nd-class passenger rail coaches used for carrying parcels

In a first, an idle rake consisting of second-class passenger coaches has been used for carrying parcels to meet the demand for transportation of these as permitted by recent innovative notification by the railway board.

The train, comprising 15 second-class Coaches and two second-class cum luggage brake van has left from Vasco-Da-Gama in Hubballi Division to Kalameshwar in Nagpur Division with a chargeable weight of 10 tonnes per Coach.

The train left Vasco da Gama on Sunday and will reach Kalameshwar on Monday.

According to the railways, it is a win-win situation for both Railways and customers wanting quick and safe transport during festival times.
