Lok Sabha Speaker arrives in Parliament House, Lok Sabha Secretariat resumes official work
“CORONA WARRIORS DESERVE ACCOLADES AND SUPPORT OF ALL STAKEHOLDERS IN OUR NATIONAL STRATEGY TO CONTAIN THE IMPACT OF THE DISEASE”: LOK SABHA SPEAKER
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived at the Parliament House today, upon resumption of the functioning of Lok Sabha Secretariat. This is in line with the advisory issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, regarding resumption of work in Central Government offices by 20 April 2020 alongside, the nationwide lockdown put in place till 3 May 2020, to contain the spread of COVID 19 in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Birla said that India has been reasonably successful in its efforts to contain the spread of this virus and that with the cooperation of the people the nation shall be able to defeat this disease. Birla said that the Lok Sabha Secretariat is in touch with all Members of Parliament, who in turn are leading efforts within their constituencies to spread awareness about the disease and to ensure that people are taking all the requisite precautions related to social distancing.
Referring to the tremendous willpower and efforts of COVID-19 warriors in containing the deadly pandemic,Birla urged the people to extend respect to them. He was of the view that health workers, sanitation personnel, security personnel and several other groups have fought this difficult battle selflessly for the sake of the nation. Accordingly, our CORONA warriors deserve accolades and support of all stakeholders in our national strategy to contain the impact of the disease.
The officers and members of staff of the Secretariat also resumed their respective official duties today.
Within the Parliament House Estate (PHE), extensive social distancing protocols have been put in place. Wearing of masks has been made mandatory for all persons entering PHE premises. All vehicles entering the PHE premises are being sanitized, along with thermal scanning of all persons who enter the PHE. Wide-ranging sanitization of all surfaces, both indoors and outdoors along with social distancing norms with regard to meetings and other interactions are also being followed. All officials have also been given masks and sanitizers and a roster system for lower level officials has also been introduced.
