Temporary Train Stoppages Announced for Pitru Paksha Mela at Punpun Ghat and Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat
Railways has announced temporary stoppages of selected trains at Punpun Ghat Halt and Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat to facilitate pilgrims travelling for the Pitru Paksha Mela. The temporary arrangements will remain in effect from September 25 to October 10, 2026, providing greater convenience to devotees visiting the important pilgrimage sites during the mela period.
Under the special arrangement, 12 trains or train services will receive a temporary stoppage of two minutes each at Punpun Ghat Halt. The halt is intended to facilitate the movement of pilgrims travelling to and from the mela and associated religious activities.

Temporary halt at Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat
In another passenger-friendly measure, Railways will also provide a temporary two-minute stoppage at Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat during the same period.
The temporary halt is located between Anugrah Narayan Road and Chiraila Pauthu stations at kilometre 539/21–540/07. The facility will operate from September 25 to October 10 to facilitate pilgrims travelling to the bathing and religious sites associated with the Pitru Paksha observances.
Five train services have been identified for the temporary stoppage at Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat:

Special arrangements for pilgrims
The temporary stoppages are part of the railway’s arrangements to accommodate the additional passenger movement expected during the Pitru Paksha Mela. The mela attracts devotees who travel to sacred locations to perform traditional rituals and pay homage to their ancestors.
By providing temporary halts close to important pilgrimage points, Railways is seeking to make train travel more convenient for devotees and reduce the need for additional road-based travel from distant railway stations.
The two-minute stoppages will apply only during the notified period from September 25 to October 10, 2026. After the conclusion of the special arrangement, the trains are expected to revert to their regular schedules and stoppage patterns.
Passengers planning to travel during the mela period are advised to check the latest train schedules and operational information before beginning their journey, as special arrangements may be subject to operational requirements.
The temporary stoppages at Punpun Ghat Halt and Anugrah Narayan Snan Ghat are expected to provide an important additional travel facility for pilgrims during the Pitru Paksha period, particularly on trains connecting Patna, Gaya, Dehri-on-Sone, Sasaram, Varanasi, Dhanbad and other destinations across the region.
