New Delhi: Northern Railway Doctors Trained in Advanced Subdermal Contraceptive Implants

Northern Railway Central Hospital and Indian Railway Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (IRPGIMSR) successfully organised a specialised Training Workshop on Subdermal Contraceptive Implant insertion on Wednesday.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. Kusumlata Verma, President, Northern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (NRWWO) as Chief Guest, while Dr. Rushama Tandon, Principal Chief Medical Director, IRPGIMSR & NRCH, attended as Guest of Honour.
Led by Dr. Anita Bansal, Medical Director, IRPGIMSR & NRCH, the day-long programme trained female doctors, nursing staff, NRWWO members and railway beneficiaries through expert lectures, interactive sessions and hands-on practice on anatomical models. Live demonstrations of aseptic insertion techniques were also conducted.
Master trainers included Dr. Anita Bansal, Dr. Chhaya Tiwary (Senior Director, Health Systems, IPAS Development Foundation) and Ms. Nancy Srivastava (Chemonics International).
With this initiative, all consultants of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department are now fully trained and certified to provide subdermal contraceptive implant services, ensuring safer, modern and long-acting family planning options for thousands of railway families.
