CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Donates One Month’s Salary for Uttarkashi Disaster Relief, Monitors Rescue Ops on Ground

In a heartfelt gesture towards disaster-affected residents of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that he will donate his one month’s salary to support ongoing relief and rescue operations in the Uttarkashi district, particularly in the severely hit Dharali and Harsil regions.
The state government has launched large-scale emergency efforts following a cloudburst and landslides that triggered widespread damage in the area. CM Dhami is personally overseeing the situation, spending consecutive days in the district to supervise rescue operations and direct ground teams.
Late Thursday night, the Chief Minister visited the Disaster Control Room in Uttarkashi to review the situation. He held a high-level video conference with the Chief Secretary and senior officials to assess the progress of relief efforts. CM Dhami instructed authorities to ensure immediate availability of relief materials, medical aid, food, drinking water, and shelter for the affected population. He also emphasized restoring critical infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, and communication networks on a war footing.
Directions were issued to deploy VSATs and gensets urgently to restore connectivity in Dharali and Harsil. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), ITBP, and local police are already on the ground.
The Chief Minister urged public representatives, officials, voluntary organisations, and citizens to contribute according to their capacity, reinforcing that the government stands firmly with the affected people.
He also instructed officials to evacuate vulnerable residents and arrange for their transportation from the disaster-hit zones to safer locations like Matli and Dehradun. The government is working to ensure that these individuals are safely returned to their homes.
CM Dhami further called for a robust action plan to better prepare for such disasters, focusing on improving early warning systems and strengthening inter-departmental coordination. He highlighted that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are closely monitoring the situation and have assured full central assistance to the state.
Road connectivity and restoration of essential services in affected areas have been marked as top priorities, with CM Dhami directing that all operations continue with maximum urgency.
