Washable aprons on platform number 14 at New Delhi station and platform 6 at Old Delhi railway station have been revamped and engine trial completed, Northern Railway General Manager Ashutosh Gangal said.
Rebuilding of the aprons began on June 4 and ended on August 2 with successful engine trial, he said.
After laying the base course for new washable apron, longitudinal and transverse reinforcements and partly casted sleepers were placed. To ensure correct alignment of the track, both horizontal and vertical, jigs and fixture were procured and used.
Once the track geometry was corrected, concrete was placed and the top layer of RCC casted. These jigs and fixtures are used in Delhi Metro for laying of BLT and have proved to be very effective in maintaining alignment of track during casting of BLT, Gangal said.
