SC orders to Make PPE available to even health care givers working in non COVID areas. The court is convened though video conferencing. Court heard the learned counsel appearing for the applicant, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General appearing for the Union of India.
The Interlocutory Application for orders is filed seeking provision of Personal Protective Equipments to all health workers including Doctors, Nurses, Ward Boys, other medical and paramedical professionals who are working in all ‘Non-Covid Treatment Areas’ and having regard to the fact that Covid-19 infection from asymptomatic patients are reported to be on the rise in the country.
Supreme court find substance in the suggestions made by the applicant. In view of the aforesaid, court directed the Union of India to examine this issue and make necessary suggestions in the ‘Rational use of Personal Protective Equipments’ guidelines so that PPEs are provided to all health officials, as stated above, who are working in Non-Covid treatment areas.
