Railway Vigilance Team Nabs Sonpur Division Official Taking ₹15,000 Bribe

A Railway Vigilance team has caught Mritunjay Kumar, Office Superintendent (Personnel) of the S&T Department in Sonpur Division, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.
According to vigilance sources, a complaint was received alleging that the official had demanded ₹30,000 from a railway employee in exchange for processing his resignation. The employee, who had secured a better job opportunity outside the Railways, was allegedly being pressured to pay the bribe, as his resignation had been kept pending for the past four months.
After verifying the complaint, the vigilance department formed a special team with independent witnesses. Acting on the plan, the complainant contacted the accused official again, during which the official was caught demanding and accepting the first installment of the bribe.
Further investigation is underway, and the incident has raised serious concerns about corruption within the administrative sections of the division.
