PM Narendra Modi Addresses National Rozgar Mela, Distributes 71,000 Appointment Letters to Government Recruits

New Delhi, 16th May 2023: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, delivered a powerful address during the National Rozgar Mela, a virtual event held today. The PM distributed approximately 71,000 appointment letters to the newly recruited individuals in various government departments and organizations.

Expressing his heartfelt wishes to the recruits and their families, PM Modi highlighted the recent Rozgar Melas held in states like Gujarat and the upcoming event in Assam. He emphasized that these Melas, organized at both the central and BJP-ruled states, exemplify the government’s unwavering commitment to the youth.

During his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s efforts in prioritizing the recruitment process over the past nine years. He stressed that significant improvements have been made to ensure a faster, more transparent, and unbiased selection process. The Prime Minister commended the reduction in the recruitment timeline, stating that it now takes only 6-8 months compared to the previous 15-18 months taken by the Staff Selection Board. The process has also been streamlined with online applications, self-attestation of documents, and the elimination of interviews for Group C and Group D positions. PM Modi noted that these reforms have eliminated nepotism from the recruitment process.

The Prime Minister underscored that the government’s policies have always been designed with employment opportunities in mind. He revealed that the government has allocated a substantial budget of 34 lakh crore rupees for capital expenditure and basic facilities over the past nine years. Additionally, for this year, a staggering amount of 10 lakh crore rupees has been set aside for capital expenditure. These investments have resulted in the development of modern infrastructure such as highways, airports, rail routes, and bridges, generating numerous job opportunities across the country.

PM Modi highlighted the success of the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) campaign, which focuses on employment creation through domestic manufacturing. Under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, the government has allocated approximately Rs 2 lakh crore to support manufacturing and provide employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to education and skill development. He stated that between 2014 and 2022, a new IIT and a new IIM were established every year. Furthermore, one university was inaugurated every week, and on average, two colleges became operational every day in the past nine years. The number of universities in the country has increased from around 720 in 2014 to over 1100 at present. Medical education has also witnessed significant progress, with the establishment of 15 new AIIMS and an increase in the number of medical colleges. Additionally, the government has made notable efforts in expanding ITIs, with a new ITI being established every day.

PM Modi highlighted the positive sentiment towards India’s industry and investment on a global scale. He mentioned his recent meetings with CEOs of prominent companies such as Walmart, Cisco, Apple, and NXP, who expressed confidence in India’s potential and commitment to creating employment opportunities. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s focus on skill development through the iGoT Karmayogi module, an online learning platform.

The National Rozgar Mela was held at 45 locations across the country, facilitating recruitment across central government departments and state governments. The new recruits will assume various positions in departments such as posts and telecommunications, finance, transportation, healthcare, and education. The Rozgar Mela serves as a significant step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s commitment to prioritize employment generation and empower the youth to actively participate in the nation’s development.
