Alambagh station situated between Lucknow and Moradabad cities is an important loading-unloading point. It has 6 railway lines out of which two are used as Goods unloading lines. At present about 45 rakes per month are being handled at this station. The platforms until recently were unsurfaced due to which unloading of goods especially during the rainy season was a hindrance.
The unloading platforms have been covered with pre-stressed concrete sleepers so that there is convenient movement of heavy trucks for loading-unloading of goods from the wagons. The platform height on the wharf was also considerably raised so that water sensitive commodities like cement and food grains can be adequately protected from rain water. The drainage system has been revamped and covered so that there is no water logging in the area even after heavy rains. Overhead Lighting in goods sheds have been improved so that the facility can be used round the clock. The merchant rooms both towards the Lucknow and Kakori ends have been repaired and provided with additional facilities like improved washrooms, drinking water and charging points etc. Widening work of the approach road to the goods shed has also been completed.
