India’s First Indigenous Semi High Speed Train “Vande Bharat Express” Completes First Year of Glorious Service
The ‘Make in India’ effort of Indian Railway had culminated into India’s first Semi High Speed Train, “Vande Bharat Express”. In keeping with the vision of “Make in India”, the major systems of the train has been designed and built in India, impact of this train, matching global standards of performance, safety and passenger comfort. The train is equipped with numerous technological initiatives and modern passenger amenities. The first train was inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi New Delhi-Varanasi “Vande Bharat Express” on 15.02.2019. The train started its commercial run from 17.02.2019.
The train covers the distance between New Delhi and Varanasi in 8 hours and run on all days except Mondays and Thursdays. Vande Bharat Express has 16 air-conditioned coaches. All coaches are having Stainless Steel car body equipped with automatic doors with sliding footsteps, onboard computer for train control and remote monitoring. All coaches are equipped with automatic doors, GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, on-board hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes and very comfortable seating. The lighting is dual mode viz. diffused for general illumination and personal for every seat.
S.C Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi and officers of Delhi Division were present at platform no.16 of New Delhi Railway Station to celebrate the occasion of first anniversary of inception of New Delhi – Varanasi “Vande Bharat Express”. As part of the celebrations, the passenger were welcomed on board the train. Some of the passengers were interacted with and they praised the services of “Vande Bharat Express”.
S.C. Jain, DRM, Delhi said that the train has logged 3.8 Lakh kilometers so far, logging approx. 1500 kms. each day and has a cumulative earning of Rs.92.29 Crores with 100% occupancy
