Gadkari to lay foundation stones of nine national highway projects in Tripura on Tuesday
Union Minister Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stones of nine national highway projects of a total length of nearly 262 km to be developed with a Rs 2,752 crore corpus in Tripura on Tuesday.
The projects, once completed, will provide faster and hassle-free inter-state and international connectivity to Bangladesh, and will be a major stride in strengthening tourism sector of the state, according to an official release.
While reducing travel time, the new projects are likely to generate a large number of employment and self-employment opportunities to the unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled manpower of the region, it said.
After completion of the above projects, there will be a quantum jump in the development of tourism, economic and international connectivity of this region. It will also give an impetus to the GDP of the state of Tripura, the release stated.
The foundation stones laying event will be presided over by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb with Union ministers Jitendra Singh and V K Singh among others in presence.
