Delegation from Punjab seeks Railway Minister’s intervention to resume train services
A BJP delegation met Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday over the suspension of goods and passenger trains due to farmers’ agitations in Punjab, and sought his intervention to resume services.
The delegation included Union Civil Aviation Minister and BJP leader Hardeep Singh Puri, party national general secretary Tarun Chug, spokesperson R P Singh and Punjab unit president Ashwani Sharma.
They apprised him of the dismal situation in the state due to the agitation, which is disrupting normal life and production in farms and industries. They requested him for the restoration of train services in the state as soon as possible, the railway ministry said in a release.
The Railway Ministry has requested the Punjab Government to get the rail track and railway properties cleared of the agitators so that the Railways can resume both goods and passenger services at the earliest in the larger interest of the people of the state and the country at large.
