Anand Vihar rail station gets luggage sanitizing facility, mask vending machine
A number of passenger amenities, including a sanitizer and mask vending machine and luggage sanitizing and wrapping facility, were inaugurated at the Anand Vihar Railway station in New Delhi on Thursday.
The luggage sanitizing and wrapping facility at the station is one-of-its-kind facility across the Northern Railway zone. It facilitates 360-degree sanitization of luggage with the help of ultraviolet rays.
Besides these, an ATM corner, two food and beverage kiosks and bottle-crushing machines were also inaugurated by S K Lohia, the MD and CEO of Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC).
The Bank of Maharashtra ATM is the first such facility at the station since it became operational. Twelve bottle-crushing machines have been strategically placed across the station and this is in line with the government’s vision of reducing the use of single-use plastic.
Inaugurating the new passenger facilities, Lohia said, “At Anand Vihar Railway Terminus, the IRSDC is offering passengers a wholesome commuting experience.”
“We are taking care of all their travelling needs in totality including health and wellness. The new basket of passenger amenities will bring a paradigm shift in the passenger convenience arena. “The IRSDC is committed to redeveloping this station into a world-class station with round-the-clock excellent passenger facilities,” he said.
