Widespread Rainfall Across India: Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Rajasthan Record Heavy Showers

Several parts of India witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Telangana and Coastal Karnataka recording the highest precipitation levels. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall was measured between 0830 hours IST of July 22 and 0830 hours IST of July 23 across various states, indicating active monsoon conditions over large parts of the country.
Telangana Sees Heaviest Downpour
Telangana emerged as one of the regions with the most intense rainfall. Venkatapuram in Mulugu district recorded a whopping 26 cm of rainfall, followed by Manuguru in Bhadradri Kothagudem with 19 cm. Several other districts including Mulugu, Hanumakonda, Suryapet, Karimnagar, and B. Kothagudem registered rainfall between 7 cm to 15 cm. The consistent downpour in Telangana highlights the strong monsoon activity in the Deccan region.
Coastal Karnataka Continues to Receive Intense Rain
Coastal Karnataka also witnessed substantial rainfall. Manki and Kumta in Uttara Kannada district recorded 19 cm and 16 cm respectively. Karwar, Gersoppa, and Shirali reported between 13 to 15 cm, while Honavar and Gokarna received 11 cm and 9 cm respectively. Agumbe in Shivamogga district of South Interior Karnataka recorded 10 cm, further underscoring the active monsoon conditions in the Western Ghats.
Rajasthan Records Significant Showers
In East Rajasthan, several districts reported notable rainfall. Pilani in Jhunjhunu district saw 14 cm, followed by Bahadurpur and Mandawar in Alwar district with 11 cm and 10 cm respectively. Alwar, Chirawa, and Bhuhana reported rainfall ranging from 7 to 10 cm, indicating active monsoon currents in northwestern India.
Other Regions Also Receive Moderate Rainfall

Kerala: Peerumedu in Idukki district recorded 9 cm, while Kayamkulam, Kudulu, and Sengulam received 7 cm each.

Punjab: Jagraon in Ludhiana district measured 9 cm, with Malikpur and Moga receiving 8 cm and 6 cm respectively.

Gujarat Region: Jalalpor in Navsari district received 10 cm, and Navsari town followed closely with 9 cm.

Andhra Pradesh & Chhattisgarh: Moderate rainfall was recorded in Vijayawada (3 cm), Nandigama (5 cm), and Jagdalpur (6 cm).

Delhi: The Delhi-Ridge station logged 3 cm of rainfall.

Himachal Pradesh & J&K: Manali and Srinagar saw 6 cm and 2 cm of rain respectively.

Northeast & East India: Gangtok and Darjeeling recorded 2 cm each; Darbhanga in Bihar and Chandbali in Odisha also received 2 cm.
Pan-India Monsoon Presence
Rainfall was reported from almost all corners of the country including Mizoram, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Most of these regions saw between 2 to 4 cm of rainfall.
With the monsoon gaining momentum in various parts of the country, IMD forecasts suggest continued rainfall activity in several states over the next few days. Authorities have advised vigilance in areas vulnerable to waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides, especially in hilly and coastal regions.
