Uttarakhand Records Intense Rainfall; Maldevta Receives Highest at 174 mm

Uttarakhand witnessed significant rainfall between 0830 IST on August 5 and 0530 IST on August 6, 2025, with several regions recording exceptionally high precipitation levels. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Maldevta received the highest rainfall at 174.0 mm, followed closely by Bajpur (166.0 mm), Narendra Nagar (148.5 mm), and Ganai Gangoli (147.0 mm).

Other notable rainfall figures include Sultanpur Patti (144.0 mm), Kashipur AWS400 (143.5 mm), Kanda (141.0 mm), Takula (138.0 mm), and Jaspur (127.0 mm). Prominent tourist and hill towns like Bageshwar (120.0 mm), Nainital (83.0 mm), Mukteshwar (72.5 mm), and Almora (27.0 mm) also saw considerable rainfall.

The IMD continues to monitor the weather closely as persistent rains increase the risk of landslides, flash floods, and road blockages in hilly areas. Residents and tourists are advised to stay alert and follow official advisories. Emergency services remain on standby across vulnerable districts to address any untoward incidents resulting from the downpour.
