Widespread Fog Grips North India, Disrupting Travel and Reducing Visibility

Widespread fog has enveloped parts of North India, impacting visibility and causing travel disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported moderate to dense fog in isolated areas of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and Tripura experienced shallow to moderate fog. The visibility recorded at 0530 IST today was significantly reduced, with some areas reporting visibility of 500 meters or less.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded zero visibility, while Patiala reported 500 meters. Haryana’s Ambala and West Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly also experienced visibility of 500 meters. East Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi (200 meters) and Lucknow (500 meters), faced challenging visibility conditions. Bihar reported Purnea at 200 meters and Patna at 500 meters. Tripura’s Kaialashahar recorded 500 meters of visibility.

The foggy conditions are expected to persist, affecting daily life, transportation, and posing potential safety hazards. Travelers are advised to exercise caution, follow traffic advisories, and plan their journeys accordingly. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely, providing regular updates to help people navigate the challenging weather conditions.
